Ping Pong
Ping Pong is the second most played sport in the world. On this site you will learn the basics of ping pong, from the table structure and layout to the size, shape and weight of the ball. Surprisingly there is no official rule as to the size and weight of the ping pong paddle. You will also discover the history and origin of ping pong, from it's beginnings among the upper class Victorians in the 1880s to the first International Championships tournament in 1927 to the "Ping Pong Diplomacy" of the 1970s which helped thaw relations between the United States and the People's Republic of China. Rules for tournament play as well as rules for unofficial play are also discussed. Over the years ping pong has evolved greatly, both the game and the equipment used to play it. Today ping pong is one of the most widely-played games in China and much of the far East and still has a large audience here in the United States, Canada and Europe.
